The provenance database Looted Cultural Assets is a joint project founded by libraries in 2016, who are committed in the search for Nazi looted property and try to find to the current owners.

Together, we are researching the origin of the materials, that are found in the books in our facilities. We publish the results of our research in Looted Cultural Assets. Currently our provenance database includes more than 32,000 references to former owners of books and information on about 10,000 persons and institutions. With this Looted Cultural Assets is one of the most comprehensive databases of its kind.

Looted Cultural Assets stands for necessity and success in cooperative provenance research. Our database is a tool of Provenance researchers for provenance researchers and of course all interested parties beyond that.
